Threshold: Death Doulas

Along with working in clinical acute care, we provide private existential/spiritual support especially at the end of life or for those seeking one on one support for Medical Assistance in Dying.

Our team provides private nonmedical support. We both have extensive experience and are fully trained, certified professionals, facilitating support for a terminally ill person and their family’s emotional, existential, and spiritual needs during the end-of-life journey.

Our role is providing emotional, existential, and spiritual support to a single person; providing one on one support to meet their unique end- of-life needs.

While the medical team tends to the physical needs of the terminally ill person, our death doula team is there to be a companion, to have those difficult conversation so we can discover what the dying individual sees as a “good death.”

Often conversations about death can make some family and friends uncomfortable.  Because they don’t want to upset their family and friends, the terminally ill person may be hesitant to have the conversations they need to facilitate their peace and acceptance at the end of life.  Our role as a Death Doula, is to provide a safe non-judgmental container for those deep conversations.
